When all else fails, bash the gays and stuff on Jim Holt

It is, after all, the greatest problem facing the state of Arkansas. Or at least you’d think so after reading this Arkansas Republican news release:

REPUBLICAN NEWS RELEASE

Little Rock (Oct. 18, 2006): Today, the Republican Party of Arkansas dropped over 100,000 pieces of mail encouraging voters to “early vote” beginning next Monday, October 23rd.

The mail piece highlights the Democratic Party of Arkansas’ blatant attempt to appease the liberal faction of their party by removing the traditional definition of marriage (one man, one woman ONLY) from their party’s platform.

“The Democratic Party of Arkansas, led by Mike Beebe, has stated that protecting the sanctity of marriage is not a priority,” stated Clint Reed, Executive Director of the Arkansas GOP. “However, we believe that the definition of traditional marriage should always be a priority.”

“There is a fundamental difference between the Arkansas Democratic Party and the Republican Party of Arkansas on the definition of traditional marriage. Our position is principled, with conviction, and solvent. The Democratic Party’s position on traditional marriage is based on appeasement and political expediency.”

On Monday, Attorney General Candidate Dustin McDaniel came out in support of civil unions which would essentially extend the same legal status as marriage between a man and a woman.

“There is a pattern that cannot be ignored,” Reed continued. “First, Mike Beebe and the Democratic Party strip the traditional definition of marriage from their platform, and now Dustin McDaniel says he supports civil unions. The Democratic Party is out of touch.”

Oh, the horror! Homosexuals may be able to get health insurance, won’t somebody do something! I don’t really know what they hope to accomplish aside from fear-mongering. They already made it unconstitutional for them to get married (or form any kind of contract similar to it, like civil unions). I got a postcard in the mail a few weeks from Lt. Governor candidate Jim Holt that I wish I had kept (my wife wrote dirty notes on it and mailed it back to him). You’d have thought the 3rd Armored Flamers were poised to invade.

For those not from Arkansas, Jim Holt is like Rick Santorum, only more extremist. He is vehemently anti-evolution, anti-women’s rights, and anti-homosexual. He’s equated minimum wage laws and Head Start with the Soviet Union. He is so anti-immigrant that our Republican governor called his illegal immigration bill ““inflammatory… race-baiting and demagoguery.” He invited Ken Hovind (currently charged with 58 felony counts) to speak on the floor of the Legislature against evolution. He also has connections to Sun Myung Moon. He’s basically the worst of the Republican party rolled into one candidate.

This is a pretty good list of all his crazy: http://www.ontheissues.org/Senate/Jim_Holt.htm

  1. They weren’t dirty notes. I just pointed out the obvious flaws in his thinking about gay marriage and foster parenting. Who knows, maybe he didn’t realize he was an ignorant bigot.
