This is very disturbing
…but not all that surprising. I saw this on Wonkette.com earlier today. (Click the image for a full view) Apparently, our military is blocking our troops from viewing liberal websites (specifically in this example Talking Points Memo and Wonkette) and only allowing them to access conservative ones like Michelle Malkin and Hugh Hewitt. The Corporal who sent this to Wonkette said this:
“I think that this kind of censoring is a big deal. I can understand blocking porn, music and movies, and blatantly illegal sites, but blocking sites that some higher up just doesn’t agree with is disgusting. They are blocking a huge portion of voters from information that will help them determine which side to vote for. Because of this, the only news we get is from the big corporations or conservative based sites.â€
Censorship of political dissenters is a disturbing sign of the government we now live under. It’s hard to run a democracy when the voters only hear one voice.

Sometimes I worry that, regardless of elections, this administration will refuse to leave office. I could see Bush “deciding” it’s too dangerous for him to leave office and he has to stick around for our own good. He has control of the armed forces. He could do it.
I don’t think he could, but I’m sure he would. He wouldn’t have control of the armed forces anymore. They would follow the new president. Maybe in ten or twenty years though.
