Bush: We’re escalating the war no matter what Congress does

via The Raw Story:

In an interview set to air on this Sunday’s 60 Minutes, President George W. Bush vows to send an additional 21,500 troops to Iraq “no matter what” the Democratic-controlled Congress tries to do.

“Do you believe as Commander in Chief you have the authority to put the troops in there no matter what the Congress wants to do,” 60 Minutes correspondent Scott Pelley asks Bush in the short clip uploaded to the CBS News web site Friday night.

“I think I’ve got, in this situation, I do, yeah,” Bush said.

“Now I fully understand they will,” Bush continued, “they could try to stop me from doing it, but, uh, I’ve made my decision and we’re going forward.”

“If this were a dictatorship, it would be a heck of a lot easier - just so long as I’m the dictator.” - George W. Bush, Dec. 18, 2000

  1. Now we know the real reason Bush went after Saddam. He didn’t want any competition for the Dictator of the Decade Award.

  2. He won’t stop “until the job is done”. Funny no one knows what that means. Is he going to settle for murdering an even million Iraqis, or go for Hitler’s record? Or maybe all 21 million of them?

  3. “I think it is dangerously irresponsible,” - Republican senator Chuck Hagel. Wake up and smell the coffins, Bush!
Presidential spokesperson: “The president has obligations as a commander in chief, and he will go ahead and execute them.” Yea, along with most of the Iraqis.

“The one thing the president has said is, whatever you do, make sure you support the troops,” press secretary Tony Snow said at the White House. “And the question people who support this resolution will have to ask is, how does this support the troops?” Um, by keeping them home instead of getting them killed, a**hole!!

  4. Congress needs to cut off all funding, and screw this non-binding resolution crap.
