By the way
As of August 15, the US has been involved in the War in Iraq longer than we were in WWII. I don’t think it really means anything, but I think it is interesting.

Maybe: the time doesn’t signify, the manner of the US engagement does. The USA had to be persuaded into WW2 (the Battle of Britain was fought so strongly to persuade the US that we were a good bet, much of Churchill’s rhetoric was aimed at the US audience and we had a secret PR operation running in the US to plany pro-Brit propaganda). The US certainly gave much-needed support in 1940 but Ambassador Joseph Kennendy was dead against the US supporting Britain - some history there). Obviously Pearl Harbour tipped the balance. Iraq was different - the US went looking for and fabricated a causus belli. We can’t complain - we came yapping along and gave a shred of credibility. Well, wee ddid complain, but out idiot government took no notice.
If it means anything at all, I think it just goes to show what a long road our troops have had to walk over there.
