Clerks II poster
2 word review: effin awesome!

wordier version: Smith really goes back to his roots, a multifaceted adult story surrounded by juvenile humor, and pulls it off as well as he ever has. This is no Jersey Girl. The plot is a lot like the plot from Clerks, but not in a lazy, “I’ll use the same characters and plot in a slightly different setting” sequel. The similarities between the two plots only serve to underscore the point that Dante and Randall have a complete lack of motivation and so they still find themselves in much the same situation 10 years later. Dante is again faced with the choice following his own heart or doing what he feels society demands of him. In Clerks II Dante finally has the oppurtunity to move up in his life, but at the price of leaving Jersey and everything that makes him happy behind. That conflict takes up most of the film. And the humor? My wife said she’d never heard a group of grown men giggle like little girls before. The much-talked-about donkey show scene was at the same time Kevin Smith’s funniest scene ever and his most touching.

Anyone that has ever worked in a fast food restaurant will love this movie. It has the usual list of cameos: Affleck, Jason Lee, Scott Mosier. Jay and Silent Bob are back and if any part of the movie seemed a bit tired, it was their scenes. This is definitely my movie of the year so far. Anyone who loves Kevin Smith movies has got to see this film.

10/10
